Ms. Julia Wee

INCORPORATION OF TECHNOLOGY
IN MUSIC TEACHING

Julia's Biography:

Trained on the Electone in Yamaha Music School, Julia joined Yamaha’s teaching staff after obtaining the Yamaha Grade 3 Teaching and the Trinity Licentiate certifications, working there from 1980~1996.

Thereafter, she became one of the core team founders of MusicTec Pte Ltd, which sought to incorporate technology in its music education programs offered to MOE schools. MusicTEC gave her exposure to music software such as Cakewalk, GarageBand, Logic Pro X, Finale and Sibelius, which led to music sequencing, transcription, music type-setting and charting for bands.

 

Objective

  • Incorporating relevant technologies to enhance the teaching and learning experience for both the teacher and the student.

 

Workshop Contents:

  • Digital / Controller Keyboards
  • Smart Devices - Handphones, Tablets, Laptops
    • Android vs IOS
    • Generic & Specialised Apps
    • Free vs Paid
    • Cross Platform

INTRODUCTION TO THE WORLD OF SOLFEGE SINGING

Nancy's Biography:

Nancy has over 30 years of classroom and individual teaching experience. She majors in the electone and minor in piano. Nancy's expertise is in teaching young children.

 

Objective:

  • Explore the beauty of solfege singing.
  • Acquiring the skill of solfege singing.
  • Effective application of solfege in Music teaching and learning.

 

Workshop Contents:

  • Introduction to the world of solfege singing.
  • Hands on session
  • How to use solfege singing in preparation for aural section of the piano exams?
  • Ideas on how to train students (correctly, musically, right pitching)
  • How to develop a keen ear / key sense
