OnLine Piano Lessons

From the start of the Coronavirus Outbreak near Chinese New Year 2020, there has been growing tension as we watch the number of deaths climb. When the Covid-19 outbreak was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organisation (WHO), I wake up each day to catch up on the latest news on the Covid-19 global news.

On March 24, 2020, the government mandated “all centre-based tuition and enrichment classes to be suspended to reduce the intermingling of students from different schools and enhance the safety of students.” (ST news). As my piano teaching is home studio based, with students coming in one at a time for their individual lesson. I continued with piano lessons as usual. On 27 March, 2020, MOE issued all schools to start implementing home based learning once a week starting in April.

OK, before things take a turn for the worse, I want all my piano students to know how to continue with piano lessons should a lock down happens. Hence, from 28 March -11 April, all lessons at Forte Music Training will be conducted online.

HOW TO SET UP YOUR EQUIPMENT:
What you will need: a digital device
Options:1. A laptop2. A tablet or ipad3. A handphone
Good to have:1. External Speakers Mine is a Flip 4 bought from Sim Lim Complex. Cost about $100 plus.

2. External microphone I use a lapel Microphone bought online.

This is my simple setup.I place my laptop next to my piano. I also have the overhead view, in case students need to see my hands.

This is another setup by a teacher friend of mine.
